Why it hasn't worked

Here's Why Everything You've Tried Has Been Aimed at the Wrong Target

Most OCD self-help works on what your thoughts say — challenging them, accepting them, letting them pass. The Five Dialects works one level lower: on the patterns underneath, the way your mind handles uncertainty, threat, and meaning, before any content even gets generated.

Those patterns have structure. Once you start to see the structure, whatever OCD throws your way finally begins to lose its grip.

The Five Dialects framework gives you a way to map that structure.

The five dialects

The Structure That Keeps Your Stuck Patterns Stuck

Your mind processes the world in patterns. Some scan for danger. Some predict what comes next. Some shape how you carry discomfort. Some shape how you explain, to yourself and to others, who you are.

Each works like a language your mind speaks — with its own way of handling uncertainty, threat, and meaning. And like any language, each runs of its own accord, whether you notice it or not.

We call these patterns the Five Dialects. Each runs on a spectrum, from threat-based to trust-based. When several get stuck at the threat end, OCD can feel completely out of hand — not as a single problem, but as a signature pattern that's uniquely yours.

The Scan
Hunting for danger Settled, at ease
The Forecast
Braced for the worst Open to what comes
The Dwelling
Caught in past & future Here, in the present
The Grip
Clutching for certainty Holding things loosely
The Story
A fixed identity A flexible one
A teaching diagram. Your own profile places a marker on each spectrum — that part is yours.

What you get

What This Questionnaire Will Show You

Answer a set of questions and you'll have a detailed, specific Five Dialects profile in hand. All five, scored and explained — onscreen the moment you finish.

Not a teaser. Not a paywall. The actual report, in full.

You'll see which dialects are running in threat mode, which are working in your favour, and where a small shift would make the biggest difference for someone with your pattern.

You'll also discover:

  • Which dialects are running your patterns, day by day
  • How they interact within your main strategies for coping
  • Why some of the standard advice never landed for you
  • Where a small shift would make the biggest difference

Want to keep a copy? We'll gladly arrange it — but only if you wish. Read it, screenshot it, close the tab. The profile is yours to keep either way.

All of it free. No payment, no card details, no upsell mid-report. It's my gift to you.
Dr Max EamesChartered Psychologist

I'm a chartered psychologist with a Master's and PhD in OCD research. I've spent decades working with people whose OCD had been called treatment-resistant — and finding that, often, it wasn't.

The Five Dialects Profile came out of two places: those years of focused research, and my own recovery from OCD.

I built the framework because so much OCD self-help is either too hard to apply without support, too academic to land, or too vague to fit a situation as specific as yours. It's the resource I wish I'd had when I needed one myself.

Everything here is psychoeducational — it's for learning, not diagnosis. I'm a psychologist, but I'm not your psychologist. If what you need is one-to-one clinical support, please reach out to a qualified professional in your area.
